S-RM is seeking to recruit a Head of Security for a multi-generational Family Office, based in the UK. This is a full-time, permanent position for one of S-RM’s private clients and the successful applicant will report directly to the Chief Executive of the Family Office.

The Head of Security will oversee all aspects of security for an UHNW family with three active generations and numerous properties both in the UK and overseas. The family has a moderate level of public exposure with an associated level of personal and professional risk attached. The successful applicant will manage the family’s security with as low a profile as practical, commensurate with the prevailing threat.

The role will involve management of the family’s security footprint, including providing tailored risk assessments to help protect their people, property, information, reputation and business interests. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying potential risks and vulnerabilities and will develop plans to manage and mitigate those risks.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implementation and oversight of security across all entities
  • Development of Security Risk Assessments
  • Management and development of physical, technical and procedural site security
  • Management of a large and extended team of security and incident response personnel
  • Crisis management planning and response
  • Journey management, travel and logistics security
  • Coordination with the in-house IT team to ensure appropriate levels of Cyber Security
  • Delivery of security awareness training to family members and staff
  • Management of the Health & Safety contractor

The Head of Security will:

  • Have a comprehensive understanding of global security issues and their implications in order to be able to advise the family at
  • short notice
  • Be able to provide guidance and recommendations on appropriate security for all properties across the portfolio
  • Ensure risk mitigation measures are applied correctly in accordance with industry best practice and the family’s own requirements
  • Develop and maintain excellent working relationships across the family, company and office
  • Lead the extensive security team, promote the highest standards and ensure quality control on all output
  • Manage direct reports, including workloads, priorities and tasks; conduct bi-annual performance appraisals and set team objectives
  • Work with HR to resource, plan and recruit, as required
  • Select, review and manage subcontractors and suppliers, including the outsourced Health & Safety company
  • Be prepared to travel overseas, in particular to Singapore, Portugal and France on a regular basis

SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Ideally a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a professional role within the security sector
  • Applicants with an Armed Forces or Policing background is considered very beneficial
  • Experience of working in a Private Family environment is deemed desirable but not essential
  • A thorough knowledge of private sector security standards and procedures
  • Experience working or operating abroad (outside of the UK)
