With over 20 years of experience in cyber security, Richard serves as Head of Managed Detection & Response at S-RM.
Richard served a full career in the Royal Navy initially as a Weapon Engineer Officer but later specialised in cyber defence and related operations, programme management and strategy. He commanded the UK MoD's combined NOC-SOC, a team of over 400, supporting around 200,000 Defence users through the Covid pandemic. He first became involved in cyber security (before the term was commonly used) as lead officer for the MoD's first proactive computer-network-defence programme in the early 2000s.
After leaving the Royal Navy and MoD in 2023, Richard built out a cyber security division at UK MSP Bluecube (now Ekco) and moved to S-RM in 2024 to establish our MDR practice. Richard is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Information Security and a Chartered Engineer, as a full Member of the IET since 2002.
He holds a BEng from the Royal Naval Engineering College, a Post Graduate Diploma in Advanced Information Systems from Cranwell University and an MA in Defence and Strategic Studies from Kings College London
